It has become pretty essential for me to keep easy, healthy snacks at all times. Being a mom is busy! When I get hungry, it is easy to grab a handful of goldfish with my kids and move on with my day. But especially when I was breastfeeding, it is so important to have some snacks with nutrients that will fuel my body. Today I’m sharing some my top 8 go to healthy (and easy) snacks for busy moms.
Having some go to healthy snacks ready in my fridge or pantry has been amazing for me. I like to look for snacks with a good amount of protein to fill me up and keep me going through mom duties. Some of these require like less than 5 minutes to put together, and others are packaged so you can grab and go on your way. I tried to make sure that each snack was realistic for moms as well. No crazy ingredients, no meal prep, and no planning ahead (besides buying the snacks). Because don’t you hate when you find an article for “Healthy Snacks For Moms” but they want you to spend 20 minutes in the kitchen. Check out these 8 easy, low or no prep snack ideas that will keep your body fueled till naptime. Then comment below what your go to snack is as a mom!
Cottage Cheese
Don’t hate me for making this my number 1 choice. Cottage cheese is one of those things that people seem to either love or hate. I LOVE it. Growing up, I would have cottage cheese at my grandmas house with salt and fresh tomatoes from her garden. Nowadays, I have cottage cheese with salt and pepper almost daily as an easy post workout snack. Others like it with fruit. And I’ve also seen people do a big bowl of cottage cheese, greek yogurt, and jello. (not my thing. But if you can do the texture of that mix, go for it).
Are you team cottage cheese, or no? I’m definitely Team Cottage Cheese.
Greek Yogurt (with toppings)
Greek yogurt as a healthy snack by itself kind of grosses me out. Not just plain greek yogurt, any of the flavored ones too. I have to have some sort of toppings. Here are a couple combinations I like that are easy peasy and delicious.
- Strawberry greek yogurt, jello cup and whipped cream
- Banana cream pie greek yogurt, crushed graham crackers and whipped cream
- Any flavor greek yogurt with granola and berries
- Chobani Flips. These have been a favorite, easy snack of mine for years! My favorite is the almond coco loco. So good, and so easy!
My go to healthy snack on a busy day is a strawberry greek yogurt, jello cup and whipped cream. If you are dairy free, KiteHill, Silk and So Delicious all make dairy free greek yogurts!
Carrot Sticks With Dip
What is your favorite dip for carrots? As a kid, we always had carrot sticks dipped in peanut butter. It was totally normal to me. But years later when I worked in an office and would bring snacks and lunch, my coworkers always teased me because they had never heard of anyone eating those two together. I brought carrots and peanut butter everyday while I was pregnant, so I think they thought it was a weird pregnancy craving. They practically begged me to either switch to ranch for my dip, or switch to celery and peanut butter. But I just don’t like carrots and ranch as much.
Anyway, if you’re looking for a great healthy snack and want to try something new, try carrot sticks and peanut butter! It’s not as bad as you think!
Protein Shakes
At Costco, I grab the Orgain Clean Protein Shakes or Fairlife Protein Shakes. They are both good and super easy snacks. And plenty of protein to keep you going with the kids. I keep them in my fridge so they are already chilled when I need one. These are often my go to if we are about to run out the door and I need an easy snack to go, or after a workout.
If I don’t have the premixed protein shakes, I make a protein smoothie. I’ll toss almond milk, half a banana, protein powder, collagen and ice.
Apple And Cheese
This is one of my absolute favorites. I love grabbing a bowl with a sliced pink lady apple, and sliced pepper jack cheese. It is such a great snack combination. Even if you don’t like pepper jack cheese. Just slice your favorite apple, and grab a string cheese for a quick and delicious snack bowl. You can add anything else to your snack bowl that you love like nuts or lunch meat.
Lunch Meat And String Cheese
I actually call this one “The Daniel Special” because it is my husbands go to snack. It’s super basic, and I think that’s what he likes about it. He just grabs a couple slices of lunch meat, and rolls them around a cheese stick. I’ve seen people throw a pickle in the middle too. I don’t go for this one, but it is the easy snack my husband grabs if he’s on a rush out the door. Literally nothing fancy about it at all, and maybe not that exciting to some. But it’s easy and quick!
Yasso Bars
I added this one to the list after the employee at grocery pick up this week asked me if I recommended them. And I couldn’t say enough good things about this easy snack! They are delicious. I love the fudge brownie or mint chocolate chip best. I’ve also made a mug cake, and added the Yasso bar on top – delicious! These are my favorite dessert.
You can find these at most grocery stores near the other ice cream bars! They have several different flavors too!
RX Bars
This last one is the perfect, east snack for moms to keep in the diaper bag or purse. My kids love these too. The best price I’ve seen them is usually at Costco. Our favorite flavor is the blueberry or chocolate sea salt. One of my favorite things about these are the ingredients. The ingredient list is simple and clean. And they are a snack that is actually filling. So I’m not going to be hungry 5 minutes later. Check these out the next time you head to Costco!
Hopefully this list helps you find a good, easy snack to get you through the day! Be sure to share below your favorite easy, healthy snacks as a mom that you think we all need to try!
