Easter is still a few weeks away, so it might feel too early to think about. In the past, I was a last minute shopper for Christmas, Easter, Valentines, everything. But when I shopped last minute, all the good stuff was gone or I’d have to pay extra in shipping to make sure it came in time. So now I try very hard to at least make a plan in advance for what I want. I try to keep our Easter baskets simple and intentional. Everything I add is something my kids either need, or will enjoy. Being more intentional about what I include has also let us have a Christ centered Easter.

As for the actual Easter basket, do you buy a cute basket or bucket? Or just lay things out? I’ve always skipped the basket and laid things neatly on the couch, but growing up, my mom always had a basket/bucket for everyone. Now I always wonder if it’s uncommon to use a basket or not. And if you do use a basket, do you get a new one each year, or do you have some that you keep stored and use year after year?

Whatever you use, you’re here to find some good ideas, so let’s get into it!

Easter Outfits

I always get new church clothes for my kids with their Easter Baskets. It’s right when it is about to warm up, and my kids usually need new church clothes at that time anyway. If you don’t need new church clothes, look for clothes your kids need for summertime. Like swim suits and shorts.

For The Boys

I have bought these shirts for my boys for the last few years. They have held up really well with my boys. I’d say they fit true to size. I usually buy the next size up in the short sleeve. My sons will wear them all summer for church, and then in the fall and winter they wear them with a sweater over top (this is the sweater I get them each fall).

They also have the dress shirts in fun prints and patterns or long sleeved is you want something a little more exciting.

I love these shorts for my boys. They look nice enough for church, but they are also great for everyday. They have a similar style with a button instead of a drawstring if you prefer. But the drawstring is easier for my boys to get dressed and go to the bathroom on their own. My boys have nice ‘suit’ pants, but they prefer shorts like these because of how much comfier they are.

I’ve also found great church pants and shorts at Target too!

This tie comes in the best floral patterns that are perfect for an Easter basket. And they also have bowties. But the bummer about this tie is that they are not machine washable. The tag says dry clean only. I did try to wash one of our anyway after it got a stain, and it didn’t do well. I have also heard great things about the Boon ties, and I believe all of theirs are machine washable, but I like that I can order these ones on Amazon with everything else in one big order. We have 3 or 4 of these ties so far and like them all.

For The Girls

Last but not least for clothing, here are a few fun dress ideas for your girls! My daughter always looks forward to a new dress in her Easter basket. We have the first dress, and it is even prettier in person! I have a few more beautiful dresses in this post, so be sure to check those out too!

Shoes

Usually to go along with the church clothes, I get my kids sandals for summer time. Their shoes from last summer are either too beat up or don’t fit. So again, it’s the perfect time to get some new ones. I’ve linked a few options below. We had the Salt Water Sandals in the past and loved them. They held up great and are so cute.

Extras

The extras are my favorite part! I’ve tried so hard to be very intentional the last few years about gifts for our kids. And I think it has made gift giving so much more fun for me! I am very thoughtful about what my kids currently love, what they need and what will bring them joy. As a result, being intentional about each item has allowed me to save money too!

Summer Time Items

Easter baskets are the perfect place to add in items the kids will use or need for warm weather because summer is right around the corner. Things like bubbles, chalk, pool and bath toys, water bottles, swimsuits, etc. I love the chalk I linked below because it comes in covers, so my kids don’t get their hands completely covered in chalk.

Toys And Books

Easter and Christmas are a great time to switch out our church toys and books because they are usually starting to get bored of what we currently have. I made a post last week with over 20 great (and quiet) toys for Easter baskets. So head over there for tons of ideas!

For books, our kids have loved the Latter Day Baby books. We have also found great church books and toys at Deseret Book in the past.

Anything I’m forgetting? (besides the fun treats, of course). In the comments, let me know what you are adding to your kids Easter baskets this year?
