Putting together stockings is one of my favorite parts of Christmas. But I also try to be very intentional with my gifts, so coming up with gifts that aren’t going to be a total waste can be tricky. So I sat down and made a big list of ideas to help you brainstorm and shop for your stockings this Christmas. I know some people (aka my own mother) like to add things like toothpaste and deodorant to stockings. And while those won’t go to waste, they just aren’t as fun.
Unfortunately for you, I just started typing and didn’t categorize this or anything. But I did add links to a lot of the items for you!
- Sunglasses – Love these ones!
- Hair Ties
- Hair Clips – my daughter has been wanting some fun clips for her hair lately. I am loving these or these for stockings!
- Kinder Eggs – my kids LOVE these. I love to add these in our Christmas stockings and Easter baskets.
- Keychains – These are fun to add to their backpacks. I’m grabbing these from the Lego store. My kids were eyeing them the last time we were at the Lego store, so they will be really excited.
- Lego Minifigure – You can build these at the Lego store! I don’t think you can do them online, but you could make one in store for each kid, or let siblings create one for each other.
- Bubble Gum – Anyone else have gum obsessed kids? I’m not sure why they love it so much, but they would love to have it in their stocking. Honestly I will probably throw some in mine and my husbands stocking too.
- Fake Tattoos – just don’t make the same mistake I made last time I bought fake tattoos. I got my kids the waterproof ones, and they walked around with a full sleeve for a few days. It was kind of hilarious. These ones are individually wrapped, and not waterproof.
- Ties/bowties – I usually get these ties from Amazon for my kids.
- Bows – How cute are these bows!
- Markers
- Fun Socks
- Chapstick
- Lip Gloss
- Chocolate Orange – It’s a tradition in my family to get chocolate oranges in your stocking. My mom still mails me chocolate oranges every Christmas. Lucky for me, my husband and kids don’t really like them so I get all of them to myself.
- Watercolors – These watercolor sets fit perfectly in stockings, and they are so fun for kids.
- Gel Pens
- Crayola Color Wonder Mess Free – Okay I know I already listed markers, but these ones only work on the Crayola Color Wonder paper. I have gotten these for road trips and flights in the past because I don’t have to worry about a toddler drawing all over something they shouldn’t. They are a little bigger, so if you’re stockings are smaller, they won’t fit. But I usually have a little stocking overflow anyway.
- Winter Hat and Gloves – Such a great time to get winter essentials that you already need anyway.
- Nail Polish – This is my daughters favorite. She loves having her nails done, and it’s always fun to pick out a new color to surprise her with.
- Small Character Toys – We’re getting these Bluey family toys for my son, and these princess ones for my daughter. (but don’t get the princess ones from Amazon. They always have them for way cheaper by the check stands at the grocery store).
- Play Doh
- Ornament – I know a lot of families like to gift an ornament that represents their accomplishments for the past year on Christmas. Such a fun idea!
- Earrings – My daughter doesn’t have her ears pierced yet. But I did find these cute clip on earrings that she will LOVE. But if she did have her ears pierced, I’d probably get her a cute, simple pair that she can wear daily.
- Watch
- Small Notebook – These little keychain notebooks are so cute. Or these small notebooks would fit great in a notebook.
- Hair Brush – We really like the Wet brush. It’s definitely a favorite for me and my kids. All the other brushes we’ve tried really hurt my daughters head.
- Gift Cards
- Water Bottle
- Stickers
- Lotion – I like to get the smaller travel size lotions for my daughter’s stocking. They fit perfect in her stocking.
- Dress Up Masks – These animal dress up masks are so fun, and the set I linked some with capes too. My kids love things like this, especially when each kids has one for their game.
- Face Masks
- Play Makeup
- Yoto Cards or Tonies – Depending on which one you have. This would also be a really great gift for friends and family to give too. I’m thinking of giving my kids a Yoto for Christmas, so I’ll probably put a couple cards in their stockings.
- Pajamas – You can roll the pajamas up and tie with a bow to get them to fit
Let me know what else you are adding to your stockings this year! And as we head into the holidays, be sure to check out this post for some great ways to make December so special for your kids in simple and sweet ways.
