Assorted-color Heart-shaped Candies

Do you get a gift for your kids for Valentines Day? I love to gift my kids something small and simple on Valentines Day. Some years, I just do a little heart shaped chocolate box, or one of the small Valentines stuffed animals. Other years, it’s something a little more unique. Either way, it’s always simple, sweet, affordable and useful. We don’t do anything too crazy. But just something to make them feel extra loved. A lot of these ideas would also work for a simple gift if your kids like giving their best friends something more than the regular class Valentines.

While I’m trying to decide what to gift my kids this year, I thought I’d make a list of some of the ideas I’ve been brainstorming to help you out to! I’ll probably update this post with more ideas as Valentines Day gets closer.

Let’s get into it!

  1. Socks: Okay, I know this doesn’t sound super exciting. But my daughter has been taking my longs socks to wear with her winter boots. So I need to get her her own socks, and she would be so excited for these. These ones are wool with fun patterns that my kids would love.
  2. Hot Wheels: Pretty much any day my boys get a new hot wheel car is a good day for them. And this 5 pack is less than $6.
  3. Playdoh: I want to love playdoh. I really do. My kids love it. So every once in a while, I give it another try. A new little jar of playdoh for each kid would be perfect for Valentines Day!
  4. Puzzles: My kids are finally starting to get into puzzles and I love it! The one I linked comes with 4 puzzles in a little wooden storage box, too.
  5. Coloring Book: I found these Valentines themed coloring books on Amazon. Or you could find some free printable Valentines coloring pages on Pinterest, and include a pack of crayons or markers.
  6. Watercolors: My oldest loves any kind of art supplies. She got an easel for Christmas that she uses daily. I only get the “messier” art supplies like paints on special occasions, so a pack of watercolors will feel so special. I linked one on Amazon, but I’m pretty sure they are a better price at Target and Walmart, unless you need to by in bulk.
  7. Necklace Making Kit: My daughter is always making bracelets and necklaces for her friends and family. She’s is super creative and is constantly making a bracelet for a friend or family member.
  8. Tie Dye Kit: This in one that could end up being a lot of extra work for you. This is definitely a hands on activity for moms. But super fun for the kids. Get a kit, and a white shirt for everyone. You could also do this a few days before Valentines Day to make a shirt to wear on the day.
  9. Bath Toys: Most of our bath toys get pretty gross after a few months. Some of them I can run through the dishwasher and clean. But every couple months, I have to toss a few. So bath toys are always a great, practical gift.
  10. Yoto Cards: My kids got a Yoto for Christmas, and it has been a huge hit. If your kids also have a Yoto, a new card for each kid would be so fun! I’m thinking of doing a MYO of some Valentines books and songs leading up to Valentines Day.
  11. Water Bottle: If your kids also take a water bottle to school and activities, then now would be a great chance to get a new one (or replace it if they’ve already lost theirs). My daughter has one of these Simple Modern water bottles for school and we’ve loved it. I especially love that I can put it in the dishwasher every night with no problems.
  12. Stickers: This would be fun to pair with a water bottle so they can customize it a bit. The ones I linked are Disney themed and come in a big pack. I’m also thinking about adding some to our class Valentines.
  13. Pez Candy Dispenser: My kids love Pez! My husband surprises them with one every few months, and it’s one of their favorite things. These Valentine themed ones are so cute!
  14. Kids Headphones: Okay, these ones come with little cat ears. My daughter would be in heaven! This is another gift that I find is practical. They need headphones for school, and when they use their tablets. So it’s something they need anyway.
  15. Valentines Sunglasses: My kids love sunglasses, but they also break them or lose them every summer. So I have to get a new pair for them every year. How cute are these heart ones??
  16. Lip Smacker Valentines Day Collection: My daughter is still too young to wear actual makeup, even though she asks for makeup every birthday and Christmas. For now, I can still get away with gifting her a new lip balm instead.
  17. Craft Supplies: Another great practical gift idea is to items you need to restock craft supplies. Crayons, markers, colorful paper, stickers, glue sticks. Whatever you need. I linked a set if you prefer to buy it all together, but you could easily just grab the items you need to restock at Target.

Did this help you come up with any ideas? Comment below what you’re gifting or what you’ve done in the past! Once you’ve picked out the perfect gift for your kids, head over to my post about the Valentines placemats I make every year for my family. (They are super simple, and take very little prep work). And then check out this post for a fun and easy Valentines dessert that is always a hit!
