Why I Started A Blog (And Why You Should Too!)

Have you ever thought about starting your own blog? Starting a blog is something I’ve had on my mind for years! But I never went for it. Until about 6 months ago, my husband brought up the idea of me blogging. And I thought. “Why the heck not??” It was honestly pretty scary to start, but below are some of the reasons I ultimately just went for it (and why you should go for it too!)

Before we get into all the reasons though, I do want to encourage you to just start! Do it scared, be cringe-y, make mistakes. You’ll only regret not doing it sooner. I officially launched my blog in December 2022. I started researching it and seriously thinking about it in August 2022. And I started building my website in October. And now, my only regret is that I waited to dang long to start! It took me a whole month and a half to make my website live because I was too scared and wanted it perfect. Learn from my mistakes and just go for it.

1. Creative Outlet

My kids are with me all day. Wherever I go, they go. Whatever I eat, they eat. I take breaks as often as I can, but my husband also has a job that eats up a lot of his time, so sometimes those breaks just don’t come easily. I really value having some sort of outlet that is all mine and let’s me be creative. In fact, research has shown big mental and physical health benefits from creativity. Doctors have seen creative outlets help with stress, anxiety, depression, our immune system, even blood pressure. There have even been studies that found creativity helping dementia patients. Our brains need creativity. We can’t afford to not be creative.

2. Help Others

Every mom has had hard moments. Motherhood is full of highs and lows! I’ve had my fair share of lows, and I wouldn’t wish that on any other mom. I’ve always found it uplifting when I find other moms who have felt what I felt. Sometimes it is nice to know someone who can share advice, vent to or even just hear “I’ve been there. I understand.” If my blog can uplift and support even just one mom, that is huge.

My emails and DM’s are always open to you moms who need a listening ear! I got your back!

3. Work On My Own Time

Being able to be a stay at home mom has always been a priority for me. I really value the time I get to be at home with my kids. Especially now that they are young, and our schedule isn’t full of school events and extra activities yet. Blogging is something I can do during nap time, after the kids go to bed, or even while the kids are playing. I can work as little or as much as I want each week. When my kids are sick or we have a busy week I can take a step back and focus on my family. I get to decide when I work.

4. Extra Income

Did you know you can make money from a blog? You can earn money from ads, sponsored posts, affiliate links or products. It does take extra work, and you will get out what you put in. It’s not easy peasy, but definitely worth it in my opinion. If you already have a blog, you might as well go all in and make some money! For me, the money I make from this blog goes towards paying off debt or extra fun money for just me.

5. Learn Something New

I love learning new things! And I have learned so much from starting a blog. I learned all about building websites, seo, affiliate marketing, Pinterest strategies and so much more. And the best part is that I’ll never stop learning. I’m constantly researching how to do things better.  There is still so much for me to learn, and I can’t wait to learn!
